Your day to day as an Engineering AssistantAs an Engineering Assistant, you will assist with various tasks within the Public Works Department's engineering section. Your responsibilities will include using data collection tools to assess stormwater inlets and other infrastructure, performing traffic control during assessments and inspections, and inspecting construction projects while documenting the work performed. You will also prepare daily reports and assist with special projects as needed, all while working closely with the engineering team to help ensure the success of ongoing projects throughout the summer months.
What you need to be successfulTo be successful in this role, you should be a college student with an interest in civil engineering or public works. You should have the ability to interpret engineering plans, maps, and specifications, and be proficient in computer skills and data collection tools. Strong communication skills are essential for collaborating with contractors, engineers, and the public, and a valid Pennsylvania driver's license is required.
